About The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas Font

Boy-in-the-Striped-Pajamas-book-minThe Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a 2006 novel by Irish novelist John Boyne. The book reached number one on the New York Times bestseller list and in 2008 the film of the same name based on the novel was released.

The font used for the text on the book cover is very similar to Bodoni Classic Text Bold, a modern serif designed by German type designer Gert Wiescher. For the title seen in the film poster, it is very similar to Bembo, which is a 1929 old style serif typeface based on a design cut by Francesco Griffo around 1495. It is named for the poet Pietro Bembo, an edition of whose writing was its first use.
