About Garry’s Mod Font

garrys mod game

Garry’s Mod is a sandbox physics game developed predominantly by Garry Newman and later Facepunch Studios. Garry’s Mod was originally a modification for Valve’s Half-Life 2, but was later made into a standalone game. It is available for Microsoft Windows, OS X and Linux.

The font used for the game logo is probably Coolvetica. The Canadian type designer Ray Larabie designed Coolvetica, a pure display font intended for big, funky headings and titles. The 1999 version of Coolvetica had a G with a swash tail (as seen in the Gmod logo) while the updated Coolvetica still contains a swash G, but it’s accessed as a “stylistic alternate” in OpenType savvy applications. You can download the old version and the new version respectively here and here.
