About Hormel Spam Logo Font

Spam-logo

Spam is a brand of canned precooked meat products made by Hormel Foods Corporation. It was first introduced in 1937 and gained popularity worldwide after its use during World War II.

The font used for the Spam logo is ITC Souvenir Bold, a serif typeface designed in 1914 by Morris Fuller Benton for American Type Founders. The typeface has a soft look with rounded serifs, and little contrast between thick and thin strokes. In the 1970s, Ed Benguiat redesigned Souvenir, adding extra styles and an italic.

For the Hormel corporation logo, it was probably designed based on Plantin Headline Medium Condensed (obliqued), especially the letter “o” and “e”.
