About Slayer Font

Slayer is an American thrash metal band formed in 1981 by guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King. Slayer rose to fame with its 1986 release Reign in Blood, and is credited as one of the “big four” thrash metal bands, along with Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax.

The logo of Slayer features a pentagram formed by four swords and a circle with its logotype in the middle. Sometimes, the logo appears as the swords pentagram on an eagle, which, however, is controversial because of its resemblance to the Eagle atop swastika.

Blake Edwards, a friend of Kerry King, created the Slayer logo in 1981. Blake sketched that logo on a PeeChee folder, with intentions to do more with the letters, but they ended up keeping it the way that it is. (Thanks to Rob Perkins for providing the information)

Font designer Chris Hansen created a font named Slaytanic based on the original logo by Blake Edwards. The font is available only in capital letters. You can download the font for free here.
