About Austin City Limits Font

Austin City Limits (ACL) is an American public television music program recorded live in Austin, Texas, and broadcast on many PBS stations around the United States.

The font used for the ACL logo is Skin & Bones, which is a Bauhaus inspired display type designed by Douglas F. Jones for Visual Graphics Corporation, a foundry from the phototypesetting era. In the early 1990s, FontBank, Inc. made it into a digital font named Skinny but with incomplete characters.

Update: Mark Simonson created a digital revival of Skin & Bones with the permission of Douglas F. Jones. Released in 2024, this digital revival comes in a larger character set and a lot of alternates. You can view more details and buy the license here.
