About YouTube Font

YouTube is a very popular video sharing website that allows users to upload, share and view videos online. YouTube was first launched in 2005 in San Bruno by three guys and then it was acquired by Google in 2006 for $ 1.65 billion.

The font used for the YouTube logo seems to be Trade Gothic LT Std Bold, which is a sans serif font created by Jackson Burke between 1948 and 1960. Trade Gothic typeface is characterized by its condensed faces, which is good for headline uses. You can purchase the font here.

Update: YouTube launched its most significant logo update yet in 2017, dropping its original logo design after 12 years. The new logo consists of the wordmark in black and the play button in pure red. The wordmark is likely custom lettered.
