WATTSTAX FILM (1)Wattstax was a 1972 benefit concert organized by Stax Records to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the 1965 riots in the African-American community of Watts, Los Angeles. The concert was filmed and made into the 1973 film titled, Wattstax.

The above is the theatrical poster for the film and the font used for the film title is ITC Pioneer. Designed by Ronne Bonder and Tom Carnase, Pioneer is an experimental all-caps font that takes on a technical, cool look. The figures are backed by a shadow, making them look three-dimensional.
