Black Flag is an American punk rock band formed in 1976 in California. The band are generally considered to be one of the first hardcore punk bands.

The band logo, designed by Raymond Pettibon, who also suggested the band name, features a stylized black flag consisting of four black bars with the band name above and beneath it. The font used for the band name lettering is very similar to Friz Quadrata Bold designed by Ernst Friz. Friz Quadrata is a commercial font and you can purchase and download the font here.
